Paul Yves Poumay – né le 15 juin 1969 à Verviers en Belgique - artiste primitif contemporain
Provocateur libre, écorché vif et pourtant incroyablement optimiste, le travail de Paul Yves Poumay a de nombreuses intentions mais il est principalement tourné vers les autres. Qualifié d’utopiste, il manifeste son indignation, liée au pouvoir corrosif de l'argent, en imposant son statut d'artiste d'art contemporain le plus cher du monde. Il traduit ses questionnements par un expressionisme décalé, passant du très coloré au plus sombre. C'est un autodidacte instinctif qui, à travers l'art et par l'absurde, défie le monde de la finance et remet en cause les fondements de nos organisations. Il provoque les réactions en dénonçant notamment les aberrations sociétales auxquelles nous assistons.
Paul Yves Poumay est le créateur de la sculpture « Le retour de Don Quichotte », estimée à plus de deux milliards d'euros qui seront versés au profit de la recherche fondamentale au sein de l'ASBL AWI.

Provocative and free-spirited, hypersensitive and yet incredibly optimistic, Poumay's work has many intentions but is above all oriented towards others. Labeled a utopian, he expresses his indignation, linked to the corrosive power of money, by imposing his status of the world’s most expensive artist in the contemporary art scene. He translates his own questions into a quirky expressionism, moving from the very colorful to the darkest tones. He is self-taught and instinctive and, through art and using absurdity, he challenges the world of finance and shakes the very foundations of our societies. He provokes reactions by condemning in particular the societal aberrations we are witnessing today. Paul Yves Poumay is the creator of the sculpture “The return of Don Quixote”, estimated at over € two billion.
